Schneider Electric Takes Over World Leader in HMI
Schneider Electric is completing its offer in Industrial Automation by the signature of a conditional agreement to take over Japanese Group Digital Electronics, the World Leader in Human Machine Interface.
Schneider Electric reached today a conditional agreement to acquire a 35% stake in Digital Electronics, listed in Osaka and to launch a take over bid for the remaining portion of the share capital. This transaction is subject, among other conditions, to reaching a minimum stake of 66.7%. and completing satisfactory Due Diligences.
Digital Electronics Corp. is an Osaka-based worldwide specialist of Human Machine Interface, which generates around 200 M€ in sales with 1 100 employees. It holds a leadership position in Japan and Korea as well as some significant and developing positions in the United States and Europe.
The Human Machines Interface business is the visible part of the machine and encompasses all the electronic devices enabling the dialog between the operators and the industrial process (such as Industrial PCs, Graphic panels and touch screens, etc...).
Such interface business will be given an ever more key role in Industry Automation, as it will integrate automation functions and enable enriched web-based communication with industrial processes and machines, in line with Schneider Electric's Transparent ReadyTM concept for all markets.
This contemplated acquisition of the world leader in Human Machines Interfaces will significantly reinforce Schneider Electric's position in the Industrial Automation activity, by enabling the group to offer complete solutions for industrial automation and process integration.
In addition, Schneider Electric will use Digital Electronics as a key entry point in the Japanese industry market, the biggest in the world.
Finally, Digital Electronics will be a crucial channel to increase Schneider Electric's sales to industrial machine builders worldwide.
This acquisition is in line with Schneider Electric’s strategy to push back its frontiers through external growth integrating new complementary global leaderships.
