Honeywell Launches Safety Manager PKS

New System Provides Ultimate Critical Safety Control, Flexibility and Reliability for Processes

The Industry Solutions business of Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions today launched Safety Manager PKS(tm), the safety system foundation for Honeywell's Process Knowledge Solution(tm) suite. This next-generation safety management system is the latest evolution of Honeywell's Fail Safe Controller (FSC®) safety system platform, which has been a global market leader for more than 15 years.

Safety Manager PKS provides an enhanced level of safety assurance for plant operators. Based on Honeywell's unique, field-proven Quadruple Modular Redundant (QMR(tm)) diagnostic technology, the product enhances system flexibility, increases diagnostic capabilities and improves system fault tolerance for critical applications. Additionally, the tools enhance application design and engineering efficiencies.

Safety Manager PKS marries Honeywell's process safety management know-how with its proven integration technology, resulting in functionality that matches customers' goals for increased safety and reliability and improved process uptime.

"Safety Manager PKS is the ideal choice for applications in a wide range of industries," said Pak Kuan Au Yeong, Director of Marketing for Honeywell Safety Management Systems. "With the use of this product, hydrocarbon processing, bulk and fine chemicals, oil and gas, energy production and other industries will find improved process safeguarding practices such as process and emergency shutdowns, equipment protection, fire and gas monitoring and critical control."

Safety Manager PKS meets customer criteria such as system performance requirements, proven strength of the technology and solid investment protection of customers' installed base.

Development of the system's software and hardware design followed rigorous deployment of Design For Six Sigma tools and IEC 61508 processes. When connected to the Experion PKS Fault Tolerant Ethernet (FTE) network, multiple Safety Managers are unified into a single safety system architecture. Centralization of process safety information and data from multiple locations within a plant is further enhanced with Experion PKS, resulting in single-window access for both operations and maintenance.
