This new task force, TC 2 – TF Safety, has begun work on the definition of a Function Block Library for Safety Critical environments.

Its goals include providing an easy-to-use interface to the safety functionality and re-usability in a wide range of applications. It also seeks acceptance and/or approval of functionality and concepts by certification bodies, providing the basis for certifiable Function Blocks. It wants to provide a common basis, terminology, references, and a 'style guide' for additional and future Function Blocks.
