Easy integration of proprietary protocols into HIMatrix safety PES
The integration of safety technology into total systems is becoming ever more complicated. The huge number of manufacturers of automation components with proprietary protocols makes this task difficult.
The new COM User Task (CUT) function now enables the integration of different proprietary communications protocols into the HIMatrix PES. Freely programmable software can be installed in HIMatrix. Using COM User Task (CUT), it is possible to execute any logic (programmed in C) and access the existing communication hardware of HIMatrix. This allows for the establishment of any communication via the established transmission media RS232, RS485 and Ethernet. Ethernet can be used both with TCP (connection oriented) and UDP (connectionless). Therefore, in the future, the user can integrate his own non-safety-related protocols directly into HIMatrix, which means that additional gateways are not necessary.
This ensures that the cycle time of the safe controller remains independent of the free programming. By using CUT, the user is ensured maximum flexibility while maintaining full safety up to SIL 3.
The commercially available fieldbuses like PROFIBUS-DP, MODBUS and Interbus are already provided in HIMatrix systems. The established Ethernet is directly integrated. In addition to safeethernet, different protocols like MODBUS TCP (or UDP), EtherNet/IP, Send Receive on TCP and an OPC server are available. Other safety-related protocols will follow.
