Fieldbus Standards
The following fieldbus standards exist in the world:
National
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Standards Association (IEEE-SA) is an international standards membership organization, which promotes the engineering process by creating, developing, integrating, sharing and applying knowledge about electro- and information technologies and sciences. The following Fieldbus standards and other documents are available through IEEE:
IEEE 1046-1991 (R1996) IEEE Application Guide for Control of Small Hydroelectric Power Plants
IEEE 1451.1-1999 (description not yet available) IEEE Standard for a Smart Transducer Interface for Sensors and Actuators--Network Capable Application Processor (NCAP) Information Model
IEEE/NEMI PR 1933 1533-1998 IEEE/NEMI Low-Cost Open Architecture Controller Specification
ISA
ISA is recognized globally as an American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-accredited standards-writing organization, which develops consensus standards for factory automation, power plants, computer technology, telemetry, and communications. For more information, visit ISA's Standards page. The following Fieldbus standards and other documents are available through ISA:
ANSI/ISA-50.02, Part 2-1992, Fieldbus Standard for Use in Industrial Control Systems Part 2: Physical Layer Specification and Service Definition
ANSI/ISA-50.02, Part 3-1997, Fieldbus Standard for Use in Industrial Control Systems Part 3: Data Link Service Definition
ANSI/ISA-50.02, Part 4-1997, Fieldbus Standard for Use in Industrial Control Systems Part 4: Data Link Protocol Specification
ANSI/ISA-50.02, Part 5-1998, Fieldbus Standard for Use in Industrial Control Systems Part 5: Application Layer Service Definition
ANSI/ISA-50.02, Part 6-1998, Fieldbus Standard for Use in Industrial Control Systems Part 6: Application Layer Protocol Specification
ISA-TR50.02 Part 9-2000, Fieldbus Standard for Use in Industrial Control Systems: User Layer Technical Report
ISA-TR50.02, Parts 3 & 4-2000, Fieldbus Standard for Use in Industrial Control Systems, Parts 3 &4: Technical Report for Fieldbus Data Link Layer - Tutorial
National Institute of Standards and Technology
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Technology Administration, works with industry to develop and apply technology, measurements, and standards. Through NIST's Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory (MEL), the Intelligent Open Architecture Control of Manufacturing Systems program has been developed and implemented to provide measurements and standards needed to support intelligent control technology for the discrete parts manufacturing sector.
International
International Electrotechnical Commission
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a world organization that prepares and publishes international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies. The following Fieldbus standards are available through IEC. For additional information on each standard, visit IEC's Publications Search page and search by IEC Reference Publication Number 61158.
