ASSE Publishes New Fire Safety Management And Electrical Safety Books
The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) today announced new editions of classic texts on electrical safety and fire safety management. Edited by Thomas M. Kovacic, "An Illustrated Guide to Electrical Safety," now in its fifth edition, focuses on electrical safety codes and requirements for safety professionals, educators, employers and compliance officers. "The Fire Safety Management Handbook," a revised hardcover edition by Daniel E. Della-Giustina, Ph.D., covers effective fire safety programs for managers dealing with fire safety as part of a comprehensive safety or risk management program.
This revised second edition of "The Fire Safety Management Handbook" is intended to help managers with creating and maintaining an organizational fire safety infrastructure. The book covers qualifications for fire service employees, hazard analysis and investigation, types and functions of fire control equipment, emergency communications, and effective management practices to establish and improve fire service operations. This edition also includes new chapters on emergency response planning and the United States Fire Administration, new appendices, and an extended glossary on fire terms.
The new fifth edition of "An Illustrated Guide to Electrical Safety" covers electrical safety requirements and training, including the revisions of the 2002 National Electric Code (NEC), which is revised every three years by the Standards Council of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The NEC has been adopted as a law by cities, counties and states throughout the U.S. The guide also includes expanded coverage on the 2000 Edition of the NFPA 70E, "Standard for Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee Work Practices."
