Fire capped in Tehran oil refinery

Fire in the Tehran Oil Refinery, located south of the Iranian capital, was extinguished about five hours after it broke out Saturday morning by firemen from five fire stations, said IRNA.


Tehran Fire Department chief Gholam-Reza Kohan told IRNA that the blaze started in the refinery at 05:26 hours local time (01:56 GMT).

The firemen arrived in the refinery about 10 minutes after the fire started and succeeded in extinguishing the fire five hours later at exactly 10:03 local time (06:33 GMT), Kohan added.

There are no reports as yet on the extent of damage caused, the official said, but added that an investigation has been launched to find the cause.

Mahmoud-Reza Peiravi said that the center rushed ambulances to the refinery, located south of the Iranian capital, immediately after it received the report.

The fire broke out at 05:26 hours local time (01:56 GMT) and was extinguished five hours later by firemen which arrived from five fire stations.

The fire began from one of the luboil tanks in the refinery, Kohan said, and added that an investigation has been launched to find the cause.
