Question about lifecycle
IEC 61508 defines its own standard lifecycle having 16 phases: from Concept (1) till Decommissioning (16). I have to define a lifecycle for a customer and I would like to tailor the 61508's standard one by merging some phases into one and cutting not required phases.
Acting in this way, is the resulting lifecycle still 61508 compliant?
Having a Safety assessment, will it be sufficient to show the custom lifecycle has product all the expected artifacts in order to be compliant to 61508?

Re: Question about lifecycle
The standard does not care about which lifecylce you use. You can define your own but you need to show that you meet the requirements.
If you decide to leave out a phase of the lifecycle then you need to be able to justify that.
I safety assessor should read the safety plan and agree that the phases are correct. Then there should be no problem.
