OPC servers & safety systems

Hi all,
My question concerns the use of OPC servers within safety related systems: read/write safety data over OPCs.
Is this acceptable? Does any one used ( or using) this.
Thanks.

Re:

Hello,
Safety related systems can read and also write from/to OPC servers, but for sure OPC data itself can not be used as safety related data. OPC servers itself are not yet approved for safety and therefore the data does not fulfil any requirements. Its possible to use the information in a safety related system e.g. for non safety related purposes, but it can never used for the safety function itself.
Hope that helps
