About the course

The objective if this 1 day training course is to give the attendance an introduction to functional safety, IEC 61508, and what developers of mechanical devices must do to comply with this standard. Allthough IEC 61508 applies to electrical, electronic and programmable electronic safety devices and systems it can without a doubt be applied to mechanical or electro-mechanical devices as well. This course is suitable for managers, engineers, and marketing and sales people. This course is a preparation course for the Certification Courses.

You will be able to:

• Communicate with sales, marketing, engineers and experts in the functional safety field
• Apply the lifecycle concept to your organization
• Communicate the functional safety management principles too your peers and management
• Apply verification, validation, assessment and audits techniques
• Design on a high level a safety systems and devices

2nd Day workshop

For product developers we offer the above course as inhouse training. On the second day we offer the product developers a workshop where the developers can apply the functional safety principles to their own products. During this day the instructors will help the developers to write their own safety plan, verification plan, safety requirements specification and to perform an FMEA on one of their products.
