Tank explosion at Taiyo Oil Japan refinery kills 2
TOKYO, Jan 17 (Reuters) - An oil storage tank explosion at an oil refinery in western Japan run by Taiyo Oil Co. killed at least two workers, a company spokesman said on Tuesday.
Local police also said five people appeared to be unaccounted for and two others were likely dead.
The tank, used to store crude oil at the company's 120,000 barrels per day refinery in Kikuma, Ehime prefecture, exploded at 2:22 p.m. (0522 GMT). The fire was extinguished about 10 minutes later, the Taiyo Oil spokesman said.
Oil refining operations at the plant have not been affected by the explosion, he said.
