ABB's Safeguard Version 1.5
It is now possible to configure Safeguard as a single safety controller. The Single Safeguard configuration allows for a simplified safety system suitable for installations classified as SIL 1 or SIL 2.
Other new features include the MB300 communications board. Equipped with its own processor, it reduces the work load of the system processor.
The new input boards Safety Analog Input and Safety Digital Input are equipped with enhanced monitoring and diagnostic capabilities, and are certified for AK 6 / SIL 3 applications.
Also, Safeguard 400 Series are now certified according to Factory Mutuals FM 7605, in addition to IEC 61508 and DIN V 19250 / DIN V VDE 0801.
New functionality in Safeguard *1.5 includes:
- Safety Analog Input (SAI) board
- Safety Digital Input (SDI) board
- MasterBus 300 communications board - reduces system processor work load
- Enhanced system monitoring
- Application backup on PCMCIA
- Enhanced power distribution
- External watchdog
- More I/O boards certified for non-interference
- Certified according to FM7605
