Safety Management
"Safety costs money...". Not really. If you think safety is expensive try an accident. Risknowlogy research has indicated that an accident costs about 8-10 times its investment. We need to change the corporate attitude about safety and make sure managers start to look at safety as a profit center. Yes it is possible. If you understand the safety related issues of your product, system or process you have such deep knowledge that you can change and improve your product, system, or process for the benefit of all. In the long run an investment in safety is always a good investment with a higher ROI then you can imagine.
When it comes to safety systems functional safety is the keyword. Risknowlogy is a pioneer in the field of functional safety and its expertise in IEC 61508 and related standards is recognized world wide.
Risknowlogy offers the following safety services:
- IEC 61508, 61511, 62061 engineering and compliance services
- Hardware, software and systems safety, engineering and analysis
- Independent verification, validation, audits and assessments
- Functional safety management
- Functional safety assessment
- SIL analysis and verification
- Reliability calculations on safety systems
- Spurious Trip Analysis
Functional Safety Management
Functional safety is an industry that deals with the correct functioning of a safety related system under all circumstances. Correct functioning depends, not only, on the physical safety product itself (hardware and software), but even more so, on the way it was allocated, build, installed, operated and maintained. No matter how good or automated safety products will be in the future, achieving safety is and will primarily be an organizational issue. Only if your organization has an established a safety culture it will be able to achieve functional safety in all aspects of its business.
Proven In Use
The purpose of this service is to give industry the means to prove and select Proven In Use components as specified by the IEC 61508 and 61511 standards. The IEC 61508 standard states that if a subsystem is regarded as proven in use then information regarding the measures and techniques for the prevention and control of systematic faults is not required. This is a of course a big incentive for manufacturers to show that their product is Proven In Use. But can end-users always trust the statements of product manufacturers? Risknowlogy is here to help.
Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is an hazard analysis method that helps you identify and resolve potential problems in any lifecycle phase of products and processes. The structured approach of an FMEA makes it an easy to use methodology and valuable tool. It is applied in the automotive, consumer electronic, aerospace & defense, and general manufacturing industries. Variations of FMEA are FMECA, FMECrA, FMEDA, and more.
Functional Safety Data Sheet®
A functional safety data sheet (FSDS) is a certificate expressing an independent review by Risknowlogy about the functional safety properties of your product according to standards like IEC 61508, 61511, or 62061. An FSDS is an excellent independent verification service for suppliers to demonstrate to end-user that their product is compliant with the applicable standards.
Spurious Trip Level®
A spurious trip level(tm) is an independent review by Risknowlogy of the probability of fail safe of a safety product, loop or system. At Risknowlogy we understand that end-users care as much about safety availability as they do about process availability. The spurious trip level(tm) is an excellent service for product suppliers and end-users to demonstrate that their safety products, loops and systems achieve a low enough spurious trip rate.
